Help Jess with cost of gender affirming surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
We are fundraising to cover Jess' living and recovery costs for the six weeks following her upcoming gender affirming surgery.
Jess' surgery is scheduled for the end of February and she will need approximately 6 weeks to rest and recover following the surgery. It's important that Jess doesn't have to rush back to work early, however she doesn't have annual leave to cover the whole period and doesn't get any sick pay from work, therefore we are asking for help with covering Jess' living and recovery costs.
If you are able to donate any amount towards this, we would be so grateful. Every little helps, and means that Jess can recover in her own time and focus on recuperating properly.
Gender affirming care is a human right and constitutes essential health care. The cost of surgery is greater than simply the surgery itself, and easing this financial burden will give Jess space to overcome the physical after effects without worrying about rent, groceries and utilities.
Thanks so much in advance!
Liv, Nikki and Aimée
From Jess:
Thank you so much for donating, sharing or just sending some warm wishes! This whole fundraiser truly is a testament to how many people want to see me become less of a dick.
In true NHS fashion, I've been waiting nearly 5 years to get to this point. This upcoming period would be a much scarier prospect without the love and support from the wonderful queer community I have managed to worm my way into during the past year or so.
I promise to repay your generosity by becoming even more unhinged and annoying once I have fully recovered <3
UPDATE: 24 January 2024
Hi everyone,
Firstly, thank you so much to everyone that has already donated. Your kindness and generosity is deeply appreciated!
Unfortunately, we have just found out that Jess' housing costs during this period will be higher than anticipated, therefore we are extending the target by 25%. Any donations are welcome and we thank you all in advance for sharing, donating and generally being amazing members of this queer community and mutual aid effort!
Best wishes,
Liv, Nikki, Aimée and Jess
