Help Jess Recover from BMX Injury

Donation protected
Hi friends, family, and community!

It feels weird to set one of these up for yourself. That being said, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t feel like I had to - asking for help is hard and uncomfortable. No shame.

~ what happened ~
I crashed on my BMX bike and separated my AC joint at a Grade 5 level. This means my clavicle separated from my shoulder blade 200% from the normal position. The injury is painful, and I look forward to getting my bones screwed back together within the next 1-3 weeks (surgery date still pending).

-> The recovery process is 6 weeks in a sling then 4 months of physical therapy.

I cracked my helmet in the fall and feel SO fortunate that it was just a shoulder.

I’ve fallen hard for BMX over the last 6 months (pun intended!) and I’ve been progressing quickly. Unfortunately, injuries happen. But the joy this new hobby has brought me is unmeasurable. <3

~ The money stress ~
I’ve been out of work since October 28th due to the end of trail building season. I worked a painting side job from October 29th – November 3rd that provided enough budget through December 1st. My savings is minimal to none as ski resort seasonal pay is notoriously tough to live on.

I was anticipating returning to work in the snowcat around Thanksgiving (give or take, as Mother Nature decides!). However, due to this injury, plans have changed, and I will likely be under the knife for shoulder surgery around that time instead.

I’m looking for financial help of any kind to help with bills while I begin my job hunt for remote or non-physical work.

A little goes a long way. I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the processes I’m navigating right now. One step at a time, as I can only get so much done in a day.

Here’s a financial breakdown of the mandatory monthly expenses I’m hoping to keep up on. I anticipate finding new means of steady income within 60 days, realistically.

I’ve set the goal on this page to cover just under 2 months of these monthly expenses:

Rent: $750
IRS Tax Debt: $20
Camper Insurance: $60
Truck Insurance: $80
Camper Loan: $250
Phone Payment: $110
Food: $300
Gas: $200
Total for 1 month: $1,770

Thank you in advance. Helping another helps the collective. I appreciate you so very much even if you just read or share.

Best,
Jess
