As you may know, I hate to ask for help. A bunch of people have suggested a Gofundme, so I’m sucking it up and doing it I guess.
Salem Wildlife Rescue is relocating from Massachusetts to North Carolina in September. As I’m going through the rehab room trying to pack, disassemble cages, purge items, etc, I’m learning that it may be more costly to move them than it may be to replace. The squirrel cages that also house rabbits and opossums are just under $300 each brand new; currently I have 3 of them I’ll need to replace but if there’s enough space, I may get 1-2 single level cages for the outdoor part of the new space as transition cages for the bunnies! The larger/expensive equipment such as the incubator and oxygen concentrator I cannot easily replace so I will have to pay to send that all down and make sure it arrives not broken!
As all of the moving expenses are going to fall on me personally and not the rescue, on top of trying to figure out logistics of relocating the nonprofit end to another state and their rules, that’s why this fundraiser is in my name and not the rescue’s! Therefore, this is not tax-deductible. I always feel so bad asking for anything as you all have done so much for me, so it means a lot that people want to help!
Anything additional will go back to the rescue and getting whatever is needed for the new rehab space! I didn’t measure but the room seems to be a little bigger than what I have now. So future goals/purchases will be a better exam table/desk, a small area just for the microscope and supplies, larger clean linen storage, etc!
