My name is Alicia, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my cousin Jessica and her family. I’m doing this because I’ve seen firsthand the kind of person she is — selfless, hardworking, and always putting others first. She’s one of those people who shows up for everyone around her, whether it’s her patients, her kids, or our family.

When I learned about the accident, my heart sank. I knew right away that she wouldn’t be the type to ask for help herself, even though she’d drop everything to help someone else. That’s why I wanted to step in — to give our community, friends, and extended family a way to show up for her, just like she’s always shown up for others.

What happened

On Monday October 6th, Jess, Addy (10) and Charlie (4) were involved in a serious multi-vehicle accident. The crash involved a semi-truck and multiple other vehicles.

Addy was the most severely injured. She’s been hospitalized and is recovering, but the road ahead is long.

Her mom (my cousin and dear friend) is a dedicated nurse and works hard to care for others — long shifts, nights, holidays.

Jess will qualify for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), which legally protects her job during her medical leave — but there’s a catch: there will be no income during that time off.

Why we need your help

This accident has created a cascade of challenges:

Medical bills & treatments

Even with insurance, co-pays, deductibles, specialist visits, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and ongoing care can stack up quickly.

No income during recovery

While FMLA protects her from losing her job, it doesn’t replace her wages.

Transportation / vehicle needs

Their van was totaled in the crash, making transportation difficult

Additional family strain

While Charlie and Jessica are home and recovering, we are unsure now about what lies ahead for Addy
