My name is Jesmary, and my husband's name is Rey. Both of us decided to create this GoFundMe because we need your help. My husband has been since November 2022 having medical problems since and has lost up to 50 pounds, plus extreme stomach pain. To this present moment, my husband Rey has gone through MRIs, X-rays, CT scans, HIDA scans, Colonoscopy, endoscopy, laboratories, and numerous medical appointments. On February 14 this year, after rigorous medical exams, they discovered he had hyperthyroidism. But he continues under medical supervision to find out what is wrong with his stomach. Due to all the medical Appointment's and time taken off due to his health, he now has no (PTO) Paid time off. This means he will not generate any income if he doesn't work. He is the only breadwinner in our family.

On January 2023, I, Jesmary, attended a follow-up medical appointment with my gynecologist, where they discovered the three fibroids found last year had grown from 3cm, 3.5cm, 4cm, to 8cm, 15cm, and 16.9 cm and also, I have them in my uterus. Due to these circumstances, I need to remove them as soon as possible. I have other medical conditions, such as von Willebrand disease, which causes my blood to not clot. This condition puts me a high risk for surgery. For this reason, before surgery, I must see different specialists and carry out a series of studies, laboratories, and medical tests to find out what status my VonWillebrand is in so that I can proceed with the logistics of my surgery. A person not having von Willebrand disease can do it ambulatory; in my case, I must be hospitalized. This means I will have to ask my husband to take me to all my appointments because I also have Meniere’s disease, and it becomes difficult for me to drive. My husband will have to be absent from his job to take care of me after surgery in the house. Recovery may take two months, maybe more. We live in the USA; all our family and relatives are outside the US. We are trying to see if we can find someone to stay with me so my husband doesn't have to be absent from work to take care of me. I Jesmary have a friend that can stay, but only for a week.

Getting a nurse to come to the house will too be expensive for us to cover it. On February 15, I received a letter stating how much the copayment would be, $3117.42, which is only for the surgery. This doesn't include hospitalization, anesthesia, previous appointments, and upcoming medical appointments. Also, it doesn't include transportation, medical bills for my husband, medical treatment, special diet expenses, medical equipment in the home, all the medical tests, studies, laboratories, and medical appointments before the surgery, plus at least two months of monthly payments such as rent, water, electricity, insurance, groceries, etc. All costs surpass $40,000. Currently, we don't have money to cover this expense. Our economic situation is harsh at this moment. This is why we created this GoFundMe to ask for your help. I understand these are difficult economic times for everyone, but if each person who reads this donates a little and forwards it to a family member or friend, we meet our goal to proceed with my surgery and Rey can continue his medical treatment and find out what causes the pain in his stomach.
