Jesi Determan is a fighter! Literally. Yes, that is a boxing glove on her hand. On June 7, 2019, Jesi will have a double mastectomy due to a diagnosis of breast cancer. Jesi works part-time at Cheesecake Factory and part-time as a youth pastor at Crossroads Church of Council Bluffs, IA, and therefore she has no health insurance. She is also a full-time student working towards a degree in Psychology. While Jesi has received some financial aid, it's doubtful it will be enough to pay for reconstruction, chemo and radiation. We won't know until some time after her surgery what stage her cancer is at, and therefore we don't know how much treatment will be necessary for her full recovery.
