Help Jerzy Defy the Odds & Walk Independently

Hi, my name is Amanda, and I’m raising funds for my incredible son, Jerzy.

Jerzy’s story began long before he was born. At 17 weeks pregnant, while working at a dental office, I was stabbed by a patient. The trauma I experienced caused my body to go into pre-term labor. My water broke at just 28 weeks, and I was placed on bed rest, holding on to hope for as long as possible.

At 30 weeks, Jerzy was born under extremely difficult circumstances. During delivery, there were critical delays, and he became stuck in the birth canal. He was born unresponsive and needed four minutes of resuscitation to be brought back to life.

We were later told his brain injury was so severe that he would likely never walk, talk, eat by mouth, or even be able to see. He was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy the most severe form.

Our world was shattered.

For a while, we felt completely lost and hopeless. But then something changed we decided we would not accept this as the end of Jerzy’s story.

Instead of giving up, we chose to fight.

When the traditional medical system gave us little hope, we began exploring additional therapies. It hasn’t been easy and it hasn’t been cheap but it has made an incredible difference.

Jerzy has already proven so many people wrong.

Today, he can:

Roll over

Sit independently for longer periods

Communicate, sometimes even in full sentences

Eat by mouth and feed himself

See and visually engage with the world around him

These are milestones we were told would never happen.

But we’re not done yet.

Jerzy has a dream to walk independently and go to school alongside his friends. And as his mom, I will do everything in my power to help him get there.

We now have an opportunity to pursue specialized stem cell therapy (MUSE cells) for Jerzy. While we are beginning with one treatment, it’s likely that additional sessions will be needed over time to build on his progress. The initial treatment costs $18,000 USD, not including travel and accommodation, and follow up therapies may range from $10,000 to $15,000 USD.

We are a single income family, and while my husband works incredibly hard, the financial burden has become overwhelming.
