Jersey Girl came into my life in a very unexpected way. She was first given up by a homeless man to an elderly gentleman who had just come off cancer surgery and left her sleeping in her own poop. That man then passed her to my neighbor, whose balcony is right across from mine. When I saw Jersey Girl, I asked, 'Who is that?' and my neighbor asked if I wanted a dog. I had been thinking about adopting from the local shelter, where vaccines and spaying are usually taken care of, but I didn’t realize how expensive it would be to do it all myself. I’ve had Jersey Girl for about a week and a half now, and in that short time, she’s already gained weight, her health has improved, and she gets plenty of walks. When I first got her, her tail was always tucked between her legs, but she really loosened up at the dog park—until all the other dogs started hounding her. Now, we’re in a bit of a quarantine, but I hope to get her back out there as soon as possible.
To keep Jersey Girl in my apartment, she needs her vaccines, and to safely return to the dog park, she needs to be spayed. I finally found a clinic that can help with both at a reasonable cost, but it’s still more than I can manage on my own. Any contribution will make a difference for Jersey Girl and help us get back to the dog park. The vaccines are crucial for her to stay with me, and the spaying will let her enjoy more time with other dogs. Thank you for any support you can give!
