Help Jerry Rebuild After Losing Everything to Violence in Haiti

High in the mountains of Haiti, in the remote community of Dion within the Parc National Historique des Mateux, a powerful project is quietly changing lives.

Dion is not an easy place to reach. It sits more than 1,200 meters above sea level, accessible only by long mountain paths. The community lives in extreme isolation, without reliable access to clean water, healthcare, education, or basic infrastructure. Yet it is also a place of deep history, a former colonial coffee plantation where the legacy of slavery still echoes and a place where families today are working to survive and rebuild.

Through the efforts of the Association touristique d'Haïti, Dion has become the focus of a unique project combining history, agriculture, and sustainable development. The goal is not just tourism but restoring dignity, food security, and opportunity to a forgotten community.

At the heart of this mission is Jerry Jean.

Jerry is a young agronomist who joined this project in December 2019. From the very beginning, he has been essential. He conducted critical research to determine which crops, like corn and beans could thrive in Dion’s harsh mountain conditions and help families increase their income.

But Jerry didn’t stop there.

He lives and works alongside the community, dedicating his life to helping them survive and grow. He supports:

Sustainable farming and improved harvests
Animal husbandry (goats, poultry)
Environmental protection and reforestation
Food processing for better nutrition and income
Basic health guidance for families

In a region increasingly affected by instability and violence, Jerry has become more than a contributor he is the backbone of the entire project. With roads now controlled by armed gangs, access to Dion has become nearly impossible. Jerry is often the only person able to remain there consistently, ensuring that this vital work does not collapse.

Without him, this project and the community depending on it would be at serious risk.

Recently, after years of dedication and saving, Jerry left Dion to travel to Cap-Haïtien for one of the most important moments of his life: his wedding to Toumica Jean-Philippe.

He had saved approximately $2,500, everything he had.

On the way, he was attacked by gang members.

They took all of it.

In an instant, Jerry lost everything he had worked for his savings, his plans, and the moment he had been preparing for.

Despite this, Jerry remains committed to Dion and to the people who depend on him.

Now, he needs our help.

This fundraiser is to help Jerry:

Recover the money that was stolen
Rebuild what he lost
Finally have the wedding he worked so hard for
Continue his life-changing work in Dion without being set back by this tragedy

Jerry has given years of his life to helping one of the most vulnerable communities in Haiti. He has stood firm in the face of hardship, isolation, and danger, when most would have walked away.

Now it’s our turn to stand for him.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.

If you cannot donate, please share his story.

Let’s help Jerry rebuild what was taken and remind him that his work, his life, and his future matter.
