Help Jerry kick cancer's ass!
Hi, first off I want to say cancer SUCKS. Our dear friend Jerry DeJesus was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma at the end of May. It all started with routine blood work coming back with extremely high kidney levels, and he was told to get to the ER immediately. Numerous tests later, he got the dreaded diagnosis that he has cancer, multiple myeloma, which is a blood cancer and unfortunately is not curable but is treatable. The cancer has damaged his kidneys, so he has been on dialysis 3x a week since being diagnosed and is also getting chemo treatments. He finished his first round of chemo treatments (once a week for 4 weeks, 2 shots and a drip) and is now into the 2nd week of his 2nd round. He is no longer able to work and did apply for disability, which he was approved for, but will not start getting payments until the end of December! He has no short or long-term disability benefits through his former employer, and his employee health insurance runs out next month. So now he is faced with not only trying to pay everyday bills and living expenses with no income but also to pay for health insurance and all the medical bills already coming in since he has a high deductible plan, which we all know is a lot of out-of-pocket expenses.
Right now he needs to focus on his health and treatments. Staying positive is extremely important so he can fight this cancer, but unfortunately, he is worried about his financial situation and taking care of his family. Therefore, I'm asking for any support you can offer, financial, emotional, or spiritual. All funds raised will go directly to him to help pay for medications & treatments, medical bills & insurance premiums, travel expenses to and from treatments, and essential living costs during this time. Despite all Jerry's challenges, he holds onto the hope that comes from his faith, knowing that God is with him every step of the way, faith over fear. Your generosity will allow him to focus on healing and regaining strength, knowing that his friends and family stand with him in this fight. I am also humbly asking for your prayers – for strength, healing, and hope as he fights this awful battle.
