Friends and Family,
On April 12, 2023 our dad Jerry Major lost all feeling in his legs, leaving him unable to walk. After spending a few weeks in two different hospitals, it was determined that he has a neurological disorder called transverse myelitis. Transverse myelitis is an inflammation of both sides of one section of the spinal cord, interrupting messages that the spinal cord nerves send throughout the body. There is no cure for transverse myelitis, only treatments to prevent or minimize permanent neurological problems.
On September 7th, Jerry began a week-long stay in Minnesota, seeing doctors and specialists at the Mayo Clinic. While at Mayo, they ran a multitude of tests, leading the doctors to discover some spots on my dads lymph nodes and before his return home, a biopsy was performed. Unfortunately, our worst fear turned into our reality, when the doctor called and informed us that the spots were in fact, cancer. Lymphoma cancer.
As of now, Jerry is scheduled to return to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on October 30th, at which time the doctors will be able to run further tests to determine the severity as well as a treatment plan.
Our dad is undoubtedly the hardest working person & we’ve never really known him to ask for, or accept help. Due to being a business owner and being unable to physically work, he hasn’t had any income since April 12. Despite applying for disability months ago, he is still waiting on acceptance/approval.
Our goal is to raise all necessary funds to cover all of the medical expenses that accompany such a diagnosis. The costs of treatments, medications, hospital stays, as well as travel and lodging while at the Mayo clinic can quickly become financially burdensome. Every contribution you make will have a significant impact on our dads life. Your generosity will not only alleviate some of the financial strain, but also provide emotional support that is invaluable during such a challenging period.
Together, lets show Jerry that he is not alone in this fight- that there is an army of love and support surrounding him.
Thank you for your love and support,
