My name is Leah Vargas, and on behalf of my sister Chanel and I, we are asking for prayers first and foremost, but also donations to help support our dad, Jerry Morris, during his stay in Houston while he fights cancer for a second time.
In February our dad was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the throat. We decided the best treatment for him would be at MD Anderson in Houston, so we immediately self referred him there.
His prognosis is good, but he is alone, and although he tried to go the savings route by staying 2+ miles from the hospital for the next 8 weeks, we quickly figured out that that was not the best option for him and got him accepted into a room at the Rotary House so he can have the support he needs. The cost is north of $13,000, along with his daily food expenses, but it's the best and safest option for him since we cannot be there to care for him on a daily basis.
The mental battle is the toughest thing at this point, but we know as time progresses it will become physically tougher on him. We are asking that if God leads you to give, that you would help take a little of the financial burden away. Prayer is the ultimate weapon, and we are so grateful for you lifting him up.
If you would like to send him something, please reach out to me for his address.
We will update weekly to let you know how things are going for him. Thank you for thinking of him and supporting our dad.
