Jerry Bené a respected member of our community local, devoted father and former Marine Captain, underwent a significant medical procedure on September 22nd after being incapacitated for five months due to Spinal Cord Meningioma (basically a tumor on the spinal cord). The picture shows the dark mass of a tumor, crushing the spinal cord almost completely.
The tumor was removed, but has left continued, possibly permanent damage. Jerry requires a cane to get around because of lack of balance. Neck pain is a daily battle, any prolonged sitting or standing causes (after a couple hours) severe pain and immobility of the neck.
Having suffered through almost a year's absence from work, Mr. Bené, who also has served on the local school board for 7 years—is now confronting the potential foreclosure of his family home.
The mortgage company has scheduled a sheriff's sale of his lifelong residence for May 16th, 2024. As someone who has dedicated much of his life to service—both in military and educational capacities—Mr. Bené deserves our support during this challenging time. We urge the community to come together to assist him in preserving his home.
