Hello to our friends and family! And anyone else reading this story. We’re doing it! We’re adjusting to life with Jerome on dialysis!
January 24th ROCKED our world and made us take a step back and look at life. Hearing Jerome is in kidney failure was the biggest shock of our lives. Over the last few weeks, we have been overwhelmed but learned to accept. We have been sad, but happiness came with every inch of progress. We have been strong, but then fallen apart. But ultimately, we came together as a family.
The hard work I see my husband put in to take control of his health and do what he needs to do amazes me. Our daughter’s resilience and the way she has processed so well with every new piece of news about her dad’s health is just so incredible. The questions she asks to understand EVERYTHING. She became my little teammate while he was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Our village coming in and saving us in our ultimate time of need with such support and love and blessings.
But in the middle of this all, he has been off work. As the primary breadwinner in the house, we have taken a major loss in the waiting period for his benefits to kick in. Hearing it may take MONTHS for his applications to process and benefits to begin has put us in quite a bind.
So we’re reaching out to our village and community. All funds raised will go towards out of pocket medical expenses, our monthly bills and groceries. Just to keep everything in line until his benefits come in for his time off work as we get him healthier so he can return to work. Any amount donated and every share would mean the world to us! Thank you and much love to you all! Hug your family members tight. Things can change in the blink of an eye. But family, friends, and community always come through! ❤️
