Hi, my name is Heather Sugg and I’m raising funds for my brother Jerome to help with his family’s living expenses and his medical bills as he goes through chemotherapy.

Several months ago Jerome began to experience pain in his abdomen, loss of appetite, swelling of lymph nodes in his neck and rapidly lost 25 pounds. After runarounds with appointments and tests at a clinic, the family felt that his condition was deteriorating with no answers in sight and his wife took him to the UCSD hospital emergency room. They quickly admitted Jerome and following many tests, X-rays, scans and biopsies found that he had a large mass in his abdomen, a swollen spleen, cancerous spots on his lungs and other organs, and cancer in his lymph nodes. He has been diagnosed with type “B” lymphoma (non-Hodgkins).

The doctors have started Jerome on steroids and he has had two rounds of chemotherapy so far. He is scheduled for 5 more rounds of chemo, 21 days apart. He is a general contractor and will not be able to do any construction work at all during this treatment due to his depressed immune system, pain, and the physical effects of the chemotherapy. He has a long road ahead, but we are optimistic.

My parents, and my husband David and I will be helping Jerome financially as much as we can, but he is the sole breadwinner for his family of 4 and will need help paying his mortgage and household expenses for at least 6 months. We also have no idea what the medical bills will amount to.
