Help Jerome Ease His Mom's Burden
Hello, my name is Jerome Cabrega.
On the evening February 12, 2025 my mother was admitted into the ICU.
Earlier that morning, her coworker called my dad and said she had an extremely high fever and was on bedrest. They took her temperature and it read 110 degrees. Once my father and I got to her job, her temperature had stabilized to 98 degrees. She told us she was shivering and once my dad helped her change her clothes, they were completely heavy and drenched with sweat.
Despite her protests, we took her to our family physician. Once he tested her, he said we needed to take her to the emergency room. After multiple tests there, they said she would need to stay as they needed to perform more tests and monitor her. That evening, she was rushed into the ICU in critical condition.
Without the quick thinking of my father, family physician and the staff at the hospital - she would have surely died.
Yesterday Febuary 13, 2025, while still in the ICU, after very high heart palpitations that morning, her condition stabilized. The color began returning to her face and lips and she was steadily drinking cold water and was finally given a bit of food to consume.
This morning February 14, 2025 she was finally moved from the ICU and antibiotics and moved into a normal hopsital room.
The main reason why I started this GoFundMe to help my mom is because of the extremely high costs of medical bills. Due to the nature of her job and her extremely high earnings, she was not able to quailify for Medi-cal or Mediciaid.
Having always been the main breadwinner of my family, she always put us above herself. Now, I want to do the same for her.
Please - as a son who will never be worthy of such a kind, loving soul help me ease her burden a little and help her focus on recovery.
Thank you.
