To everyone who has been following Jeremy’s GoFundMe and his journey towards amputation, we wanted to share that he underwent surgery on March 5th and is now recovering in the hospital. This experience has been incredibly difficult, but Jeremy has maintained a positive—and often humorous—attitude, especially in the days leading up to his operation. His strength has helped his family navigate this challenging time.
The road ahead will be long, with many hours of physiotherapy that can’t even begin immediately due to the pain and healing required after the amputation. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support. Every donation, whether $2 or $10, makes a meaningful difference and allows Jeremy to focus on recovery and adapting to life with a prosthetic. Your generosity has not gone unnoticed and is helping Jeremy and his partner, Sol, through this transition.
Our goal is to continue raising funds so Jeremy can dedicate the next year to healing and learning to use his prosthetic. With your continued support, we hope that, after a year of rehabilitation, Jeremy will be able to return to school and complete his Red Seal Plumbing certification. Thank you for supporting Jeremy and his family during this journey.
Supporting His Recovery After Amputation
Recently we noticed a post on Facebook of Jeremy asking the community for bottle donations to help with bringing in income as he is no longer able to work. Marshell and a group of our friends wanted to do more.
We are raising funds for Jeremy Passley, a dear friend who needs our help during an incredibly difficult time.
Jeremy is a wonderful person, a loving partner to Sol, and a devoted parent to Sol’s beautiful daughter. He’s been working hard to build a better future for his family, and now he needs our support.
Jeremy was so close to achieving his goal—he’d completed all his schooling and training for his Red Seal plumbing certification, with just one exam standing between him and a stable career that would provide financial independence for his family.
Then everything changed due to a devastating complication from diabetes.
WHAT HAPPENED
On November 15, 2024, Jeremy had to leave work due to a serious foot injury. He saw multiple doctors and underwent numerous medical tests over several months. After nearly a year of testing, he was diagnosed with Charcot foot in his left ankle (Charcot ankle).
THE DIFFICULT DECISION
Jeremy faced an impossible choice. His podiatrist advised against reconstructive surgery due to its complexity and high failure rate. After consulting with an orthopedic surgeon and carefully weighing all options, Jeremy made the brave decision to undergo a below-the-knee amputation now scheduled to be performed on March 5, 2026.
While reconstructive surgery offered no guarantees—with high risks of improper healing and a lengthy recovery that might still leave him unable to walk—amputation provides the best chance for Jeremy to regain mobility with a prosthetic and return to the active, independent life his family needs him to have.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
After the scheduled surgery on March 5, 2026, Jeremy faces significant medical expenses, lost income during recovery, and costs for prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help Jeremy focus on recovery and make a healthy and speedy recovery and return to providing for his family. Your support means the world to Jeremy, Sol, and their daughter during this incredibly challenging time. He will be absent from work for 1 year. We are trying to alleviate the financial burden and our goal is to raise through go fund me a total of $50,000.00 this amount is his estimated annual income. There will be incurred medical costs not covered, rehabilitation costs, prosthetics and he will not be receiving extended health benefits do to the absence from work and not being able to complete his career at this time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Jeremy, Sol, and their daughter during this challenging time. Your support means everything to this family.
