Hello, my name is Jeremy Hopkins. Married to my wonderful wife Mindy for 12+ years and we have two sons, Jaxson, who is 9 and Max, who is 4. In October 2023 I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer) which had spread to my lungs and bones. I had a kidney removed in December of 2023 and began immunotherapy in January 2024. The immunotherapy worked well at shrinking the cancer but also caused immunotoxcity which led to steroid resistant colitis that hospitalized me for numerous days. After my reaction to immunotherapy, it was decided to take a different drug called cabometyx. Having been on that for several months, the cancer started attacking my right hip. In October of 2024 I fractured my hip which resulted in me having a full hip replacement. I recently had a PET scan that revealed the cabometyx was not working and my cancer was continuing to grow. So I am starting a new medicine to try and extend my life. I am actively seeking more medical opinions and alternative treatments in an effort fight this disease in any way I can. This Gofundme will help with everything from bills, travel costs, medicine costs and to be honest, I may use some of it take a trip with my family to just relax for awhile. I have spent my life serving others. Over 24 years of serving the warfighter. Over 10 years of serving my community as a volunteer firefighter and first responder.
