Hello, my name is Jeremy Gephart. I’m a disabled U.S. Army combat veteran, and I’m reaching out because my wife, Christina, and I are facing something we never imagined: we are about to be evicted from our home. We urgently need to raise $300 by tomorrow, 22 JAN 2026, to pay our past-due rent and stop the eviction — otherwise, we will lose our apartment and be left homeless with our dogs.

This crisis comes at an unbelievably difficult time in our lives. I’m still grieving the loss of my mom this past year (she passed away in March), and my father is currently not doing well, so he cannot help us. This is our first year without my parents, which is already so hard on us emotionally. On top of that, I struggle with PTSD and other combat-related injuries from my military service. It has been a daily battle to heal from the trauma of war.

One of the few things that has given me hope and relief is our deep love for dogs and the little dog-boarding business my wife and I run. My wife, Christina, is a longtime dog sitter on Rover.com (known as “Christina C” on Rover) with stellar reviews. We started “Rocky’s Barkin’ Board” to care for other people’s dogs in our home. Dogs have been my saving grace – caring for them 24/7, 365 days a year has helped me keep my PTSD at bay. The wagging tails, the cuddles, and the unconditional love of these animals have been the best therapy I could ask for. In fact, this work is the best I’ve felt in a long time. We’ve cared for dozens of dogs, and each one becomes part of our family.

However, as wonderful as it is, running a dog-boarding service from home is challenging financially. We always make sure our rent and bills are a priority, but we’ve also made sacrifices to ensure the dogs have everything they need. We often spend our own money on high-quality dog food, safe toys, and even medical care for the dogs who get sick or injured while staying with us. We never want to say “no” to a dog in need. At the same time, I’ve been working hard on building a new career in tech – I’m developing web and mobile AI applications and trying to launch a small business of my own – but as a startup, it hasn’t brought income yet. Between investing in my tech projects (hoping to create a better future) and putting the dogs’ needs first, we fell behind on our rent over the past few months.

Now we are $300 behind on rent, and our landlord has given us an eviction notice. The eviction date is set for automatic set out if failed to pay 3 days after notice. If we can pay the full $300 before that date, the eviction will be called off, and we can stay in our home. If not, we will lose the first home we’ve ever had together. This apartment may be small, but it’s ours – and it’s also the dogs’ home, their safe haven. We have nowhere else to go if we’re evicted. We don’t have family who can take us in (my mom is gone, and my dad is not available), and we’re terrified of what will happen to our dogs if we end up in a shelter or living out of our car.

I’m humbly asking for your help to save our home. Every dollar raised will go directly toward the rent debt and late fees to stop the eviction. I have the court paperwork to prove the amount owed and the deadline (I’m happy to provide it if needed). Reaching our $300 goal will allow us to pay the landlord and secure our home, so we can keep our little family (including our furry friends) together and continue the work that has given me purpose and healing. If by some miracle we raise more than the goal, anything extra will be put toward future rent and the care of the dogs (food, vet bills), ensuring we never end up in this situation again.

It’s extremely hard for me to ask for help like this. I’ve always believed in toughing it out and serving others – first my country, now these animals. But I’ve learned that even the strongest of us sometimes need to lean on our community. I cannot do this alone. Your support would mean the world to us. Not only would you be keeping a roof over the heads of two people, but you’d also be saving the dozens of sweet dogs that we care for throughout the year. You’d be giving me a chance to continue healing and helping others, rather than having everything collapse just as we were finding our footing.
