Help Jeremy be the 1st USA Black Student at FIFA

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Jeremy Salley. I am a recent 2020 graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in International Relations. I have been accepted into the FIFA Master Programme at the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES). The program is backed by FIFA, the Soccer/Football organization itself. I am the first African-American to be accepted. The program is organized by the International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) in partnership with three universities; De Montfort University in Leicester (England), SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland). The FIFA Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport was created to promote management education within the world of sports.

About the Program:

The one year postgraduate program consists of three modules: Humanities of Sport taught at De Montfort, Sports Management taught at SDA Bocconi, and Sports Law taught at Neuchâtel. The program has an outstanding reputation within the sports industry being ranked as the number one postgraduate course in Europe by SportsBusiness for its eighth time in nine years in 2020. 30 students from approximately 25 nations are accepted in any given year. Given its scope of being encompassing, it was ranked as the best in the category of the most valuable in furthering careers. This is an opportunity of a lifetime to help sharpen the tools and have the accessibility to help in the battle for equity in sport within the United States. The effects of having our future leaders educated helps the nation on this journey of prosperity. It is evident that opportunity is needed in the sport in this nation.

What is being Fundraised and Due Date:

I am currently raising funds to attend the program. The donations will go strictly towards paying the cost of tuition and fees associated with the program. Thanks to a week long extension given to me from your efforts so far, the new due date for payment is April 25th for the program.  Anything extra given will go towards a contributing fund that I am starting to send accepted American students of color through the FIFA Master in the future.

My journey in finding funding has been troublesome as aspects of the process have not contributed towards the effort of funding the next generation of soccer leaders. While hurtful, it has become a lifelong goal now to make sure another promising American student does not have this barrier again.

Proof of Acceptance:

Also included is my official acceptance by the CIES to bring validity to my cause.

Why it Matters:

Within the MLS, only one of the 26 head coaches/managers is Black. This is also reflective with front offices within the league as only one executive president out of the 26 is Black. This alarming statistic is a driving force in the nation's mission of equity in sports. The United States' soccer pyramid is the midst of the most important transition period in its history. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar only a year away, the United States has a chance to showcase this youthful movement that has come about throughout the top leagues of Europe. However, the goal for the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in the nation, along with Canada and Mexico, should be for the infrastructure to be elevated for continued success and glory for America as a whole.

As a kid growing up in Atlanta, the possibility of the world of soccer being an avenue for opportunity was non-existent. Given the newfound resurgence of Metro Atlanta's soccer scene, the growth of infrastructure is now developing to rise as the city continues to. Overall, the roaring momentum created by Atlanta United and amazing organizations on the forefront such as Soccer in the Streets has created a need to continue to create leaders on the front who will help in the cause of making the game equitable for all youths in America.

Currently, I am a Project Director at Collegiate Consulting. We specialize in college sports consulting throughout the nation for institutions from Division I to junior colleges. However, I am looking forward to possibly what's next within my career and this nation athletically.

And thank you so much for your support.
