Help Jeremy recover from hospital bills and eviction

Hi there!

My name is Jeremy. I'm a 29 year old living in Brooklyn, NY and I'm facing eviction ~
Let me tell you how I got in this predicament in the first place.

It allllll started when I was unemployed in 2023 - 4 months total to be exact. Given unemployment, I still was on top of my rent and didn't miss a payment. Jump to August 2023, I landed a DREAM role as a Freelance Technical Designer for a company based in Canada. For a year and two months, I worked from home and decided to put my all into this job because I figured if I worked hard, I would be able to secure it and prove myself worthy of being brought on Full Time. In this year and two months, I worked countless hours (most weeks my allotment of hours was up to 25 hours though I worked well above those hours. I wanted to make sure the work was good, right, and wanted to go above and beyond) and worked on many different projects and even went to my first Trade Show in Miami for a collection I helped create! But to no avail I was laid off in September of 2024. The same day as the anniversary of my grandpa's passing. Though I understood that it made sense to lay off the freelancer that was based in the US, I was still fearful of what my next steps were to be.

I've applied to hundreds of jobs - Fashion, Retail, Receptionist Roles, Cafés, Restaurants, Personal Assisting, House Cleaning, and still have only landed one interview which they never called me back.

I bring up 2023 because during that unemployment time, I racked up a good amount of debt. I was using the income I earned from the Freelance role to pay off that debt and my other expenses needed to remain in my current home and keep myself alive and well. With that being said, my 1099 was reflected in my income for 2023/2024, so my unemployment application was rejected. So since September 2024, I have not being receiving any sort of steady income. While wanting AND willing to work, I have not been able to find a job.

Fast forward to October 26th, 2024 - I get rushed to the hospital for what seemed like meningitis - stiff neck, delirium, fever, chills, fatigue, diarrhea, and a bunch of other stuff but ultimately was diagnosed with Sepsis and Acute Colitis and drs. said that if it weren't for my two friends making the executive decision to call 911, I wouldn't have made it. After being discharged from the hospital, drs. advised that I refrain from situations that would result in high stress as it would cause another spike in colitis (my mother said I was born stressed out so of course this would happen to me lol)

Unemployed and having to navigate how to live with this weird diagnosis of my colon, I have yet to find a job to pay for my rent! I am willing to work and able to work but for some odd reason, the job market is extremely horrible (of course) and I'm 5 months behind on rent. $1,750 x 5 = $8,750 is the grand total of what I owe BUT I am not expecting to meet that goal. I would appreciate even $1,000 just to buy some time to keep applying to jobs and hopefully work to get myself out of this insanely ridiculous situation.

If you can't donate monetarily, I urge you to follow me on Tiktok so I can monetize videos and earn some form of money that way (@ByJeremyChristian is my handle on TikTok.)

Thank you for taking the time to read about my story and although my default is to be stressed out and to punish myself for allowing myself to be in this situation, I have a small bit of hope that I will be okay.

Much love,
Jeremy
