On October 11, 2018 Jeremy Odell was o his way home from a business meeting. While driving from Midland Tx to San Angelo Tx on Hwy 158 a water hauler semi pulled out in front oof him and he did not have time to stop or move out of the way. He was taken to MMH with a 50/50 chance of survival. He was stabilized in Midland and transferred to UMC in Lubbock. Jeremy suffered major facial/head abrasions, facial fractures, a shattered femur in two places, a broken tibial plateau, multiple broken ribs on both sides, a broken right wrist, a broken left arm and a collapsed lung. He was rushed to the first of 3 major surgeries the next day , at which point he was intubated placed into a medically induced coma for 9 days. Upon waking up he was diagnosed with ICU delirium, or sun-downers, due to the amount of time he was under in the ICU. He remained in the ICU another 3 days before being transferred into a regular room. He was discharged from UMC On October 27, 2018 in a wheelchair and completely unable to stand with out assistance. 16 Days total in the hospital. Since that date they have made numerous trips from San Angelo to Lubbock for follow-up visits with the surgeons, trauma team, and the optometrist. He started physical and occupational therapy in November, and is still under the care of multiple doctors, including pain management simply due to the amount of trauma his body suffered ans well as healing from all the hardware put in. He was the sole provider for his family of 7 and due to the round the clock care he needed neither him nor Kanada could work. They received a settlement payment from their insurance company for his truck, but those funds where exhausted quickly due to stacking bills and feeding kids. They also received some greatly appreciated help from Oilfield Helping Hands in early February about the time Jeremy was released to go back to work. Unfortunately Jeremy was rushed in for an emergency surgery due to major bone infection last month in his knee. He got to spend another week in the hospital after the surgery, and now has to receive IV antibiotics for AT LEAST 6 weeks. Due to this surgery, his doctor will not allow him to drive, which means she have to drive him to twice daily appointments for antibiotics at the infusion clinic. Meaning once again that neither one of them can go back to work for at least 6 weeks, until he has been released by his doctor to be able to drive himself. They have not had any other source of income since October, and have only scraped by due to the good will of family and friends and the Oilfield Helping hands. Jeremy and Kanada are wonderful people, friends and parents. Lets all pull together to help them out in their time of need. The smallest amount is appreciated more then many of you will ever know. Please help me share this TO HELP THEM. GOD BLESS.
