Jeremiah’s Medical Update

After receiving intensive, specialized care at Stanford Hospital, the medical team determined that Jeremiah had reached the maximum benefit they could provide at this stage of his recovery. He has since been transferred back to a hospital in Sacramento, where he is now being closely monitored as his body continues to heal from the removal of pancreatic necrosis and other critical treatments he received at Stanford.

Jeremiah is still battling an infectious pseudocyst and significant inflammation in his pancreas. His medical team will be working over the next several weeks to slowly reduce his dependence on tube feeding, with the hope of gradually reintroducing soft foods as his body allows. At this time, Jeremiah is expected to remain hospitalized for at least another 4–5 weeks as he continues this slow, challenging recovery.

Our son Jeremiah is a 27-year-old young man with special needs who fills every room with laughter, music, and love. He is currently receiving specialized care at Stanford Hospital for acute pancreatitis and pancreatic necrosis, a serious and painful condition that requires an extended hospital stay—estimated at 4 to 8 more weeks—before he can safely return home to his siblings.

Because Jeremiah is a conserved adult and cannot advocate for himself, his parents are by his side every day, communicating with his care team and ensuring he receives the gentle attention and advocacy he deserves.
