Help Jeran Rebuild Forge Makerspace After Fire
Donation protected
My best friend Jeran Bruce is one of the most hardworking, resourceful, and kind people I know.
At just 22 years old, he pivoted from a traditional, dependable career in engineering to start his own business. A Santa Monica native, Jeran saw a need for kids to have access to hands-on STEM learning and mentorship and in June 2022 he created Forge Makerspace. Over the last 2 years, Forge grew to serve over 100 students in the Pacific Palisades community - teaching hands-on engineering and robotics skills to elementary and middle school students. At Forge, kids had supervised access to state-of-the art technology tools such as 3D-printers, electronics, and a laser cutter.
In the tragedy of the Palisades Fire, Forge Makerspace and over $50,000 worth of tools, equipment and materials were completely lost. Unfortunately, a majority of this will not be recovered by insurance.
Jeran is working tirelessly to get Forge up and running again, especially as parents and families strive to regain some semblance of routine and normalcy. These kids deserve a safe space to learn. He is working with our community to find commercial space in Santa Monica to re-open ASAP (if you have any leads/know of any spaces that may suit Forge please reach out!).
Jeran is not the type to ask for money or help, especially when there are so many others that have lost much more, but I know his impact on both the Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica communities is momentous and I believe our friends, neighbors, and peers are here to help.
