Help Jeong Kim Fight Cancer

Donation protected
I recently had the honor of meeting Jeong Kim, a charter of the Pi Alpha Phi Iota Chapter at the University of Michigan. With a wife and 9 year old daughter, he was beginning his life as a father at 40 years old.

Although it was an amazing experience to meet one of the men who had established this great fraternity, I was met with the grim news that he had been diagnosed with a terminal brain cancer since January 2019.

He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, the same cancer that took the life of Sen. John McCain. This is the most aggressive type of brain cancer that usually affects people past the age of 64, but is now impacting Jeong at a much younger age. Treatment exists in the form of surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy.

He was immediately rushed to brain surgery after diagnosis, an expense of $100,000. He has recently started expensive chemo and radiation therapy costing $80,000, but the prospects for survival are very slim. Life expectancy after diagnosis averages around 12-15 months. Although Jeong is doing everything he has to fight for his life, he has come to terms with what lies ahead.

A completely healthy man has had his life turned upside down. He left his job to completely focus on his treatment and fights everyday to try to win the fight of his life while providing the best that he can for his wife and daughter.

I would like to ask all friends, brothers, family, or anybody to donate whatever they can to alleviate the medical costs of Jeong's operations to provide him and his family the best quality of life that they can have in his limited time. Each donation contributes to mitigating the massive financial burden. The more we can take this burden off them, the more they can enjoy the time they have together.

This fraternity has meant so much to me in my college career and given me countless unforgettable memories and people that I will cherish for a lifetime.

He has done so much for us and it is our turn to return the favor. Let's show him that he has an entire community and brotherhood that has his back to provide him and his family hope in these extremely trying times. All donations are greatly appreciated, regardless of amount.
