Help Jensen Have Top Surgery!

Hello!

 

For those who may not know me, my name is Kate (she/her) and I am engaged to Jensen (they/he)!

 

Jensen identifies as non-binary and has been hoping to receive top surgery for years. Now is the perfect time and we have actively been working with a gender affirming clinic near us to ensure that Jensen can fully be the person they want to be. Gender affirming care is truly essential to their flourishing as an individual.

 

Part of being that person has included many visits at the clinic for Jensen to do all of the upfront work for receiving this type of surgery (i.e., medical clearance, psycho-social clearance, etc.). Another HUGE part of this process has been waiting months and months and months to meet with the surgeons and schedule surgery! We are *finally* approaching that appointment and it's time to truly begin preparing for surgery to occur.

 

Jensen has been planning for this surgery for years and has been preparing financially as well. However, preparing to plan a wedding at a similar time was not part of their years-long planning and throws a bit of a wrench in our financials. In order to ensure that we are able to ensure that Jensen receives this necessary surgery and we are able to get married in our planned timeline (Spring 2023, add it to your calendars) we are needing some assistance.

 

Now, here comes the fun part. Jensen is not planning on receiving extra funds for surgery and is planning on "just making it work". (If you know Jensen at all this won't surprise you.)

I would love to be able to surprise them with these extra funds from those who love us and support this journey as a testament to the way Jensen loves others. Jensen is the first person to donate any extra funds to any cause they find worthy, and I'd love for them to get just a portion of that support as well.

 

That's all to say that Jensen does not know about this campaign and I'd love to keep it a surprise! These funds will truly help alleviate stress about surgery and wedding planning (all funds will be directed towards surgery), time off from work to properly recover, and follow-up appointments. Insurance will be covering a large portion of the surgery, but the fundraising goal of this GoFundMe covers only a portion of the price that we will be responsible for in this process. I'm not anticipating there will be an excess of funds but, if that becomes the case, extra funds will be donated to other campaigns of folks hoping to receive gender affirming care.
