If you truly know me, you know how hard this is for me even to ask. I absolutely hate asking for help, or even money for that matter. So please understand how difficult this is for me to reach out to the public for help about.
So most of you know, I'm in the recovery stage of fluoroquinolone toxicity. I have been very vocal about this condition and constantly try to advocate for me and everyone that has gone through it. This is because no one takes it seriously. Everyone thinks it's the very "rare" side effects of the antibiotic fluoroquinolone that "go away eventually", but through my experience, it is anything but rare. I've made so many connections with people with this same condition and have read many stories about it. It is shocking they still pass this medication out like candy. Since this is not being discussed enough, not enough research has been done. So that means my PCP would not be able to provide appropriate treatment. Recovery is not linear like any typical illness. I started strong and slowly progressed, but any stress or over-exertion takes me back and creates new painful symptoms such as muscle weakness, heart palpitations, anxiety, and lately loss of appetite is setting in again. I struggle everyday to get back to "normal" and have been making every effort to do so. I am currently job searching but the fear in the back of my mind is what new symptoms will keep me from being consistent with coming into work. I want to be 100% again to help my husband and I contribute to our life to just survive.
Which brings me to my next point: treatment.
Upon research AND through a friend who has already gone through it and is already healing, I found a specialist here in southern california who can help. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover this specific treatment. So that is why I am stepping out of my comfort zone and asking help from anyone that genuinely cares. Any small bit helps right now and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
