Help Jens Recover from Leg Amputation
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is to help my friend Jens Holsten recover and move forward from a below-the-knee amputation.
In short, Jens has been battling with a very painful and dysfunctional right leg for over a decade due to a complex sequence of congenital issues and an injury that resulted in deformity of his foot and destruction of his ankle joint. After three surgeries (including two failed ankle fusions), many consults with the best surgeons in the field of ankle reconstruction, and hundreds of hours of physical therapy, Jens made the challenging yet appropriate decision to remove his right lower leg and move forward as an amputee/para-athlete.
Jens underwent surgery on June 20th with an incredible surgeon, Dr. Kessinger, who is top in her field. Surgery went great with no complications.
Jens is in the beginning stages of his recovery from this amputation, and while it will be long and challenging, each day moves him closer to living a higher quality life as an amputee/para-athlete.
Jens is very excited to put the pain and dysfunction behind him and move forward bionically, and we are all so excited for him and this next chapter, but he will need our help!
The expenses for a new amputee are extensive and continuous. Pre-existing and new medical bills, lengthy rehabilitation with extensive co-pays and insurance limits, expensive medical supplies, and of course the myriad of adaptive equipment Jens will need to purchase to begin this new life (from prosthetic legs to car modifications, to household equipment). It's an overwhelming list, and the needs will never end.
Anything you can donate to lessen the burden of these expenses is very much appreciated!!!
Please share this GoFundMe far and wide. Thank you!
