Jenny's friends and family ask you to join us in supporting her journey into safe housing and through cancer treatment.
Jenny has been recently diagnosed with High-Grade Serous Carcinoma (HGSC) and must have stable housing to receive treatment. HGSC is an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Due to her prior diagnoses of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a result of an exposure event, she does have disability support and Medical Assistance. What is difficult is finding "clean" housing without scent, chemicals, material off-gassing, second-hand smoke, cleaning scents, laundry scents, mustiness or mold. This invisible disability is becoming more recognized as the effects of volatile organic compounds (VOC) is understood. Most hospitals and clinics, and many workplaces are fragrance free in recognition of the adverse effects on many people with compromised health.
Jenny has been unhoused for over four years, relying on her car and friends' driveways and their electricity to have safe warm/cool overnight off-street parking. It is now imperative that she have immediate housing so medical treatment is approved by her doctors. We are hopeful that a recent find of small mother-in-law unit will be the solution.
The Minneapolis rental rates are high, but finding affordable "clean" housing has proved difficult to find even with a housing specialist, friends, and family helping Jenny try to source options. There are no programs or housing specifically for those who have these conditions. One prior housing situation ended due to mold, another due to landlord foreclosure and others due to landlord/roommate inability to accommodate fully Jenny's scent-free needs.
We have calculated 5 months' rent to allow treatment time plus an medical air filter to keep her living space clean. Though Jenny and her support system has been diligent about working with state programs, housing assistance is lagging and this funding is a stop-gap emergency to land her a place for treatment and the Minnesota winter.
I met Jenny because I also have MCS. Jenny is resourceful and tenacious. Going through such devastating health events, she remains caring and generous. Jenny is a gentle and understanding soul.

I ask you to open your heart and give as you are able - every dollar matters. Every drop makes a river. Really, if you can give $5, please do! (don't wonder that it is too small). If you are able to give $25, $50, $100 or more, please do. We understand some people have extra, and ask for your life to touch Jenny's. Help us help our friend and sister.
"Any help is appreciated beyond words," says Jenny.
