Hi friends, this is Jenny Lai, and I’m sharing my story with humility, gratitude, and intention.
Over the past 20 months, my life has been shaped by a journey I never expected — breast cancer. I completed 15 months of treatments, including six months of intense chemotherapy and underwent a breast lumpectomy. I am deeply grateful to be here — and I am now in the equally important phase of maintenance treatment, recovery and rebuilding.
I'm learning that Cancer doesn’t end when the Cancer has been removed. Healing continues long after.
My Journey
When I was diagnosed, my focus narrowed to one thing: getting through treatment. Chemotherapy challenged my body, my nervous system, and my sense of self. Surgery marked progress, but also reminded me how much healing still lies ahead.
In the midst of all of this, I also lost my job in March 2025, shortly before my diagnosis and have not been able to return to work since beginning treatment.
This season of my life is about restoring strength, stability, and balance — physically, emotionally, and financially.
Why I’m Asking for Support
Although the cancer has been removed, the impact of cancer continues in very real ways. My doctors have recommended maintenance treatments for the next year and medication and monitoring for 5 years.
Cancer treatment comes with many unexpected costs. So far my care, treatments, testing, supplements, and supportive therapies have already totaled over $77,056. As I continue focusing on recovery, there are still ongoing medical and healing expenses ahead.
This fundraiser will help cover ongoing and lasting expenses, including:
- Outstanding expenses for treatments and medication not covered by insurance
- Follow-up imaging, labs, and doctor visits
- Ongoing recovery treatments and supportive therapies to help my body heal
- Physical recovery and rehabilitation
- Lost income during treatment and recovery
- Daily living expenses while regaining stability
This support allows me to focus on healing this next year — without the constant weight of financial stress.
Other ways to contribute

A Note on Recovery & Communication
I want to share something honestly and gently.
Right now, my capacity is focused on healing and conserving energy. While I am profoundly grateful for every donation, message, and act of kindness, I may not be able to personally respond to everyone.
Please know this:
Every contribution is felt. Every share matters. Every show of support helps — even if I can’t express it individually right now.
Your understanding is part of the care I’m receiving.
My Fundraising Goal
If donations exceed this goal, any additional funds will be used to help support lost income and essential living expenses while I continue rebuilding my strength and working toward long-term stability.
From My Heart — Thank You
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply hold me in your thoughts, I am deeply grateful. Cancer has shown me the power of community, and I am humbled by the love surrounding me during this time.
Thank you for helping me heal — in every sense of the word.
With gratitude,
Jenny
