Help Jennifer's Family After Fire Loss

I want to keep everyone updated, but unfortunately don't really have any good news to share except that we are all staying warm & healthy. We're grateful to the friends and family who've kept roofs over our heads for these past weeks, and for everyone who has donated, shared resources, and offered support.

Not much has changed for us though. We were offered a free trailer in the same mobile home park as the one that was destroyed, and the park denied our application. (After requiring $90 for the application fees.) That was a hard pill to swallow, and pretty devestating to our family. This park had been our home for 15+ years, and we never expected to get declined. No one can make any sense of it.

Everywhere we've applied to rent or buy so far, we've been turned down -- we either don't earn enough to meet their requirements, or our credit history isn't good enough. And nearly every place requires non-refundable application fees, so each denial is wasting money we desperately need to rebuild our lives. So we are still technically homeless. Our entire family & pets are still displaced, and we're living apart right now.

And we still have the task of demolishing our trailer to deal with, and we continue to be charged lot rent for the fire-ravaged trailer in a park we can't live in.

This has been harder than we ever imagined, but we're not giving up hope.

My name is Jennifer Lightcap. Tonight my husband, myself, our kids and our two dogs lost our home and everything to a fire. We have no insurance because the mobile home we lived in was too old. My boys are 12,14,18. This is really hard especially with loosing everything we just got for Christmas. For years I have helped care for other families as a CNA and did their shopping for other families. Right now I need help.

The fire started in the wall between the kitchen and the living room which it quickly engulfed and has left us with absolutely nothing but the clothes on our back.

Everyone is physically okay, the ambulances made sure that no one sustained any physical injuries.

This was our home for 15 years and the family home of all three kids.

Right now our family is all separated as no one can house us under one roof. We can’t afford to stay at a hotel.

All donations recieved will be sent directly to us the family so we can restart from scratch and to rebuild our lives.
