On August 20th my friend Jennifer Maratsos and Mickey Kendall found out that their home in Grizzly Flats was lost in the Caldor Fire. No amount of planning is adequate when you are having to pack up your lifetime of memories and belongings. They were lucky to get out of the area safely with their pets and all they could quickly pack. Anyone who knows Jennifer is aware of what an amazing person she is and that she always is willing to go out of her way to help others; this trait is evident in both her personal life and in her career of choice in the health care profession. Jennifer and Mickey need assistance as they navigate rebuilding a home where they can create new memories. They are overcome with sadness in losing their home and community.
