In loving memory of Jennifer - funeral and legacy

Anyone who has ever met my mom, Jennifer, can only say how kind, compassionate, and caring she is.  From taking time to earnestly listen to everyone she meets (no matter their age, gender, or background) to going out of her way to make dreams come true - she has always focused on letting everyone she meets feel valued and loved.  Her dedication even working at the happiest place on earth, Disneyland, won her innumerable guest compliments and the prestigious Walt Disney Legacy Award.  My mom has always put others first and always left herself last.
On April, 1st we called an ambulance for my mom because she was in a lot of pain and having difficulty breathing.  After MRIs, CT,s, and draining 2.5 liters of fluid from her lungs and sending it for tests, the results came back that she has Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
My mom has never smoked, has lived a clean Christian life, and has only been guilty of one thing - not loving herself enough.

The doctors still need to perform several more tests to discover how extensive her condition is, but all conversations are focused on treatment and recovery.

It has always been just the three of us: my mom, sister, and me.

We're so used to no none being there to help that we never think to ask, so for the first time in our lives my sister and I are asking ...

Help.

Please, help.

In any way you can.  No matter how small, everything will help us as we face the biggest, scariest challenge of our lives.

If you are unable to donate money, time, resources, advice, etc. please be sure to share across social media and broaden our community of support.

We have no idea how much treatment will cost (even what little our insurance will cover) and  the doctors keep reminding us that this will be a LONG journey.  Since the pandemic started last year, we have been on furlough (Vanessa has been unemployed since December) so our financial situation is dire.  We have always made do on a shoe string budget, but we have no safety net for something as impactful as this.

I am confident that with courage, faith, and dedication my mom will survive this and walk toward a future of advocacy and long denied self appreciation.

Until then, I ask that you refrain from contacting her at this time.  Please communicate any messages intended for her through my sister and I.

Also, we ask that you speak positively about her condition even in private.
Words are powerful, even the ones no one hears, so please use your power to join with us and "speak life" into our situation.  It costs nothing to hope.

Thank you for your time and may you have a blessed day.
