Help Us Bring Jennifer Home With 24-Hour Care

Subtitle:
A devoted mother, now battling early-onset Alzheimer’s, needs urgent support to safely return home.

Story:

My name is William Masterson, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my mother, Jennifer R. Masterson. After a long and difficult stay in the hospital and rehabilitation facility, she is scheduled to return home in two weeks. But her return is not as simple as opening the front door. It requires urgent, critical preparation—both physically and financially.

---

Her Story
Jennifer is a woman who sacrificed everything for her children. After being abandoned by her husband with two young kids, she took on hourly jobs and substitute teaching to keep our home intact. She gave us stability, safety, and love—even when it meant swallowing her own needs and dignity. Now, at just 64 years old, she’s been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Her decline has been fast and devastating. She now needs full-time, around-the-clock supervision—her doctors and social worker have made that clear.

-------

Our Current Reality
I’ve taken on the role of full-time caregiver. I’ve filed for disability on her behalf, secured food assistance, and I’ve been converting the living room into a bedroom that meets her medical needs. I’m doing all the construction myself—despite recovering from multiple surgeries, a bad left leg, and a fractured right foot.

My sister Amanda has been helping financially in a huge way, but we’ve reached a point where the math no longer works. It's either pay the bills or get the equipment and care she urgently needs. We can’t do both alone.

What Your Support Will Fund

24-Hour Home Caregiver Coverage (3 months minimum): $6,000

ADA-accessible bed and hospital-grade mattress: $850

Flooring installation in living room conversion: $3,500

Custom ramp with safety railings for front entrance: $900

Shower chair and toilet riser: $175

Emergency alert system (device and one-year service): $250

Medical supplies (monthly): $300

Transportation to medical appointments and therapies (monthly): $150

Supplemental part-time aide during transition to Medicaid CDPAP: $400/month

Fundraising Goal: $15,000
This amount reflects only the essential, immediate needs required to bring Jennifer home safely and provide her with basic 24-hour care. While her condition truly calls for far more comprehensive, long-term support, this goal represents the minimum needed to meet her most urgent needs—just enough to get her through the door and into a safe, stable environment.

Final Words
We’ve done everything we can to hold things together. For the past six months, I’ve been covering the mortgage, car payment, insurance, and utilities—while also trying to get a handle on the mounting debt my mother has accumulated since her condition took her out of work and stopped her income. At the same time, I’ve been managing her care, overseeing construction, and doing everything in my power to prepare for her return home.

But now we need help. Every dollar raised will go straight toward making her homecoming possible—and safe.

If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can’t, please consider sharing this page. Your support—financial or emotional—means the world to us.

I know many reading this have probably personally experienced it—there is just no family left alive, and my sister and I are trying to do the best we can. Thanks for reading—and whether it's a share, a donation, or just for sitting through and reading all of it... truly thank you. It has been a wild and rough—it's been 6 months this May 15th. Again, thank you all—and to the many who have offered advice and emotional support during this time, just thank you.
