Help Jennifer Lynn Hoffman Heal Her Cancer
Jennifer Lynn Hoffman is the Owner and Director of WNY Dyslexia Specialists in Buffalo NY. She opened this literacy center after realizing the tremendous need in our community for specialized reading and spelling instruction for dyslexics. Since opening in 2016, many children and adults have shown vast improvement under Jennifer’s guidance along with the efforts of her team.
In August 2018, Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage 3 Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (the same cancer Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly was diagnosed with). She had surgery and received radiation therapy. In March 2019, cancer returned. Jennifer underwent a second surgery. A third diagnosis of cancer in her neck was detected in May 2019, this time more aggressive than the first two diagnoses. She is currently in chemotherapy at ECMC with surgery to follow.
Her vision and leadership are vital to her family and her business, and to the WNY community. Growing a business while focusing on healing her body is mentally, physically and financially exhausting. A benefit will be held for Jennifer on Sunday, July 21 from 3 to 8 pm at Iron Workers Hall, 196 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca. Three local bands will provide musical entertainment. Shadows Dawn, (nominated Best New Band, Buffalo Music Awards 2018), Walter Oblivion (Nominated Best Alternative Band, Buffalo Music Awards 2019) and The Knight Crew (Winner Best Rock Band, Best Female Vocalist in Debbie Juliano Knight, and Best Rock Guitarist in Scott Gay, Buffalo Music Awards, 2019) will take the stage during the benefit. Tickets are $30/person pre-sale and $35 at the door and will cover general admission, entertainment, food, and refreshments. Basket raffle, 50/50 and other raffles will take place. My name is Debora Cullen, from Amherst, NY. Jennifer rescued my daughter and our family from the dark and frustrating path of dyslexia. Our paths crossed at the exact time she and Ken were starting WNY Dyslexia specialists. I was her first employee and have had the privilege of helping many students and their families navigate the same path toward light and success that Jennifer showed me. Along the way, Jen became my friend and mentor. Our literacy center is located in Cheektowaga, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, but we have students come from all over western New York and even beyond that as some of our students are taught online.
Following the benefit on July 21, Jennifer will use the funds from this GoFundMe campaign, and the benefit, for medical and personal expenses she has incurred as a result of her limited ability to work during this challenging time. She will have direct access to the funds from this campaign. I will not make any withdrawals nor accept any funds from this fundraising effort.
