Help Jennifer get to Mayo
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Jennifer Burris. I go to the Mayo Clinic for care, and I have recently been scheduled for appointments and an outpatient therapeutic program. As those close to me know I have been struggling for the last 13 years with multiple autoimmune diseases, chronic pain due to these diseases, Fibromyalgia, migraines, and bilateral occipital neuralgia. Many of these things do not have cures and are often not manageable with medication. I am very sensitive to medication side effects and I also get little relief if any from medications for pain. Many of my issues start with some kind of trauma to the body/brain and can be caused by repeat trauma, whether I am aware my body considered it trauma or not. This causes your body to be in a constant fight or flight state leading to central sensitization. This affects me physically, and mentally, and it affects my life in every way. The treatment program I have been scheduled to attend is only available at the 3 Mayo Clinics across the country. Three of my five specialists at the Mayo clinic felt that my participation in this program was necessary. It is a specialized treatment with multiple medical professionals offering their specialization during the duration of the program. This is to help me alter things so that I can come out of the fight-or-flight response. It also will help me work on healing and altering my brain patterns without the use of medications used to alter pain. This program has been said to help people regain a better quality of life. I can't imagine anything better! It gives me hope. Those that know me are aware that before my first trip to Mayo in February this year I wasn't seeing hope for the future at all. This will be a huge blessing for me. I will attend daily from 7:30 am-4 pm. The program and appointments will take a month. I will be going from May 19-June 19, 2023.
Here is where I am requesting help. I do not do this easily. The fundraisers I have done before this were for people other than me. We have always tried to do things on our own. Unfortunately, housing has become the biggest struggle for this. I have 2 weeks of housing already. I still need to be able to afford 2 more. Normally, we would be able to manage this but we currently have mold and water in our office (house) so the walls and floors have to be replaced after someone can come in and go through the floor to find the cause. We also will likely have to have work done on the foundation. It is going to be a huge unforeseen expense causing the Mayo housing to seem impossible. I have contacted all area charitable housing. That is how we got the first 2 weeks of housing. However, all other charitable housing either has specific requirements, doesn't meet our needs or is already full. Everything else I have looked at falls close to the cost we are trying to raise. I am not asking for help with anything other than housing. Any little bit helps and is appreciated. Thank you all for caring enough to read this far. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. God bless you all.
