On Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, I was admitted to the hospital for severe acute anemia and internal bleeding. When I arrived at the ER, my hemoglobin was dangerously low at 6, and I needed two transfusions to stabilize my levels. The doctors have told me I’ll need to stay in the hospital until March 5th, and after that, I’ll require at least two more weeks at home to recover and regain my strength.
This situation has been overwhelming, especially because I am the only one currently working in my household and my husband has had to take care of me through all this. (Which he has done phenomenally and treats me so wonderfully.) I don’t have paid time off or medical insurance, so every day away from work means lost income. The hospital staff is helping me apply for assistance programs, but the process takes time, and the bills are already piling up. My biggest worry is making sure the essentials—like home bills, gas, food for both humans and pets, and medical expenses—are covered during this difficult period.
My main goal is to cover the two weeks I’ve already missed from work, as well as the two weeks I’ll need for recovery, so I don’t fall behind on utilities or other critical expenses. Any donation, no matter the size, will help ease the stress of this medical emergency. If all you can offer is a hug or a prayer, I am deeply grateful for that, too. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can give.
