From Hope to Heartbreak — Please Help Us Find a Way Back
We’re Jennie and Ohson, a married couple who have spent most of our life together fighting for time together. We have spent years building our love across continents—Jennie in Sweden, Ohson in the U.S. In 2009, after many long-distance flights, phone calls, and time apart, we finally got married and dreamed of a life where we’d never have to say goodbye again.
That dream brought us to Los Angeles in December 2024. We packed up everything we had and moved to Los Angeles—a city that has always meant hope and happiness for Ohson. We stayed in Lake Arrowhead temporarily, filled with optimism, ready to find work, settle into a home, and finally create a life side by side, working on our future to land job opportunities in Los Angeles.
Soon after arriving, the wildfires tore through the Los Angeles area when we were staying in Lake Arrowhead. The jobs we were interviewing for vanished. The few belongings we brought with us had to be packed again, suddenly. We were left without income, without stability, and now—without a home.
Jennie lives with Rheumatoid Arthritis—a painful, chronic illness that doesn’t pause for hard times. She needs regular medication to manage pain, prevent joint damage, and stay mobile. Without stable housing or income, even accessing basic care has become an overwhelming battle.
Right now, we are living out of a hotel somewhere in Los Angeles with the little savings we have left. Each night we ask ourselves where we’ll go tomorrow. Each morning we try again to find work, shelter, and hope. But it’s incredibly hard to rebuild when you’re running on empty—physically, emotionally, and financially.
We never imagined being in this situation. We are hardworking, loving people who simply got caught in a storm we couldn’t predict.
We’re not okay.
We are reaching out with heavy hearts, asking for help—not for luxuries, just for the basics: a safe place to sleep, access to medication, and enough time to catch our breath and start over.
If you can donate, even a small amount will make a real difference. If you can’t, sharing our story is a gift we would be deeply grateful for.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you, from both of us, for believing that even in the darkest moments, we are never truly alone.
With love and hope,
Jennie and Ohson
