Help Jenni bring home her rescue cats from Turkey

This fundraiser is run by Cat Castle (@catcastletails) on behalf (and with permission of) Jenni Pringle.

Jenni’s story.

I spent a year in Georgia from October 2020. It is where I rescued Marley and Princess.

In August last year I moved to Fethiye in Turkey. I flew from Georgia with both my kitties in the cabin with me.

It has now transpired that the residency permit I hold to remain in Turkey was a fake and I was scammed by the person who arranged it.

This means I now find myself in a situation where I suddenly have to go back to my home country, South Africa, ASAP
I am taking my babies with me, no matter what.

My two babies deserve to have a forever home with me. There is just no way I would consider any alternatives. I saved them from the streets and promised them to take care of them.

Please help me to get my babies safely back to South Africa. The import rules are very strict and it is also extremely expensive to fly them back home. Luckily they do not need quarantine.

And this is where you come in. My flight is booked for Friday the 14th of January and in the hope to have raised the money in time to bring Marley and Princess with me.

We will post all receipts of the costs made and anything left over will be donate to Cats with no hope (@catswithnohope), an amazing rescue based in Turkey, supporting 20+ rescue cats, many blind and disabled.

Marley’s story

I met my little Marley in an area I normally never visit but I had seen homemade felt Christmas decorations on FaceBook and was curious to visit the studio. He was sitting in the cold next to a government building and when he saw me he started crying. Just a little ball of dirt, sores, and with a crusted skin so bad he could hardly see through his eyes. I immediately contacted all the animal welfare and help groups in the area, but no one offered any help. I made a promise to the little one that I would do something and two days later I set off with a bag and a towel to fetch the kitten. He was sitting in his usual place, however someone had put down a cardboard box for him as shelter. He was huddled inside next to a pile of dry catfood. I gave him some water and scooped him up in the towel, called a taxi and headed off to the vet recommended to me on Facebook.

He was very quiet in the bag, like he knew I was a friend and helping him. At the vet the assistant burst into tears when she saw him. His ears were torn, he had mites, numerous injuries all over his little body but the worst was the thick crust of dermatitis all over his little face and neck.

After treatment I took him back to the Co-working space I was living at. They had a strict no pet policy but I had no other alternative and had to keep him until I could find another place to stay.
I went home and with the bag snugly under my arm started heading for the stairs, but as I turned the corner little Marley let out his first real sound just as the owner turned the corner. The game was up - I had to admit I had a kitten in the bag. After begging and pleading I was allowed to keep him in my shower and find alternative accommodation immediately.

Marley and I moved a week later to our own little apartment. He was still dirty and scruffy but slowly he started showing me who he was. My lovable boy did not leave my side. If I got up in the night he would follow. Wherever I went Marley was by my side. We have a special bond, he is an extremely nervous cat and absolutely terrified of men.

He runs and hides whenever he hears male voices and when a man enters the apartment. He is normally scared of strangers but has a special fear of men.

The way I came to find Marley feels like fate, like I was meant to be there at that time and place as he would not have lasted out there much longer.

Princess’s story

Princess was found near a dumpster at the age of about 5 months. She was in a horrific condition, she had a paw injury and cement stuck all over her but worst of all, someone had cut off her ear!

It was obvious she had been a housecat before as she seemed well fed. When found she was very frightened of the outdoors. The vet stated that whomever cut her ear off did so with precision and a sharp knjfe or scissors.

I took her in to foster after the rescue she was at put out an appeal.
The moment she joined my family, I knew this would be a foster fail and that I would never let her go.

Marley loved this little silver ball of fluff from the minute he saw her. She is a small cat with a very playful streak, teasing Marley a lot and always sneaking up on him.

Unfortunately little is known how Princess came to be found the way she did and the person or persons that abused her were sadly never found.

Both Marley and Princess now live a happy life with me. They are safe. They are loved and there is no way I will leave them behind after all they have been through. Thank you to anyone making a donation or sharing this fundraiser. I will post regular updates of course to keep you updated.

Should we not raise enough before the fly date, I have arranged a sitter for them for a month who will care for my family until I can fly them to join me in South Africa however I hope to avoid this as being away from me will be very hard on them, especially Marley.
