If you know Jennea Harris, you know she pours her heart and soul into every child she works with in the schools of Paducah. She doesn’t just coach—she mentors, nurtures, and loves these kids like they are her own. Her time, energy, sweat, and even tears are given freely to ensure each student feels valued, seen, and supported.

As her mother, I recently had the privilege of visiting her after a surgical procedure, and in that short time, I witnessed firsthand the impact she has. She not only works as a school social worker, but she also manages 6 step team across 5 schools & coaches 2 cheer teams—maybe more (who knows, LOL). I watched as she picked up and dropped off girls to help their families, comforted a student in tears, and fostered a culture of encouragement and strength among her teams. These young girls aren’t just learning routines; they’re learning self-worth, kindness, and resilience—all because of Jennea’s love and dedication.

But now, Jennea needs our support. Over the past year, she has taken a huge leap to stand on her own two feet and value herself the same way she teaches young girls to. In the midst of this journey, she has faced baffling and serious medical concerns. She recently had a heart monitor surgically implanted—just one step before a pacemaker—due to an extremely low heart rate. The medical expenses are piling up, with ongoing travel to specialists (including in Nashville), multiple procedures, and an upcoming surgery in just two weeks—one that insurance will not cover. On top of this, her car, which she relies on for both her medical appointments and transporting the kids she mentors, is in need of critical repairs.

Beyond her work in the schools, Jennea shares the love of God with other women, sings worship in the choir at Harrison Street Baptist Church, and is a constant support to friends and family in ways too numerous to count. Now, it’s our turn to support her.

Let’s rally around someone who has given and continues to give so much to others. Most importantly, let’s help her get well so she can continue being the salt and light she was created to be.
