A Trip Turned Tragedy
Our dear friend Jenna Roberts—a devoted mum, wife, friend and community hero—needs our help. What started as a joyful trip to Adelaide to celebrate her 40th birthday and 10-year wedding anniversary with her husband, Rob, and their three kids turned into a nightmare. Just a day after her birthday, after catching up with friends and family, Jenna was hit with a sharp, stabbing headache. Her Husband and kids rushed her to a pharmacy, thinking it was a migraine. Within minutes, she became nauseous, lethargic, and lost movement in her body. A paramedic on the next counter overheard her son describing her symptoms to the pharmacist, acted fast, and raced her to Royal Adelaide Hospital in his ambulance that was waiting outside—saving her life.
Doctors found a frontal intra-cerebral hemorrhage—a life-threatening brain bleed—followed by a stroke. Within the hour Jenna had emergency brain surgery which removed part of her skull to relieve pressure. After 12 days in ICU and 10 more in the neurosurgery ward, Jenna was flown back to Perth, where she remains in hospital care.
A Long Road Ahead
Jenna can’t walk and has limited movement on her left side. She faces months, possibly years, of rehabilitation to regain independence, plus another major surgery to replace her skull. Rob can’t work as he’ll care for her full-time once she’s home. Their family still needs medical equipment—a wheelchair, shower chair, and electric bed—before she can leave the hospital. With two kids at home and no income, they’re struggling to cover medical and living costs while awaiting Centrelink and NDIS support.
Who Jenna Is
Jenna is a kind, generous soul—beautiful inside and out. She’s dedicated her life to lifting others up: improving education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids, running a Girls’ Club for young girls, and creating culturally safe services for vulnerable families in her job. A pillar of her church and community, she’s always given everything to those around her.
How Your Support Will Help
Every dollar will ease the burden on Jenna, Rob, and their kids:
• Medical equipment: Wheelchair, shower chair, electric bed
• Rehabilitation: Physiotherapy and occupational therapy to help Jenna walk again
• Medical costs: Medications, hospital visits, and post-surgery support
• Transportation: Getting Jenna to appointments and rehab
• Living expenses: Bridging the gap until government support kicks in
This will cover immediate needs and give them stability during Jenna’s recovery.
