Help Jenn & Jason rebuild their flooded home

On March 8th, our friends Jennifer and Jason’s family home flooded. They live just outside of Sydney, Australia, an area that has been hit by several late-summer thunderstorms over the last few weeks, creating flash floods, prompting evacuations, damaging homes and businesses. As you see in the pictures, the house flooded heavily and rapidly when the thunderstorm hit during high tide. The water flow was so extreme that our friends (and their cats!) had to be evacuated from their house by boat while their kids were safe at school in a different part of town.

Unfortunately, flood insurance is not widely purchased in the area because it is incredibly expensive, and floods of this magnitude have been rare in the past. Jenn and Jason now must repair the entire first floor of their home and back yard without any insurance support and very limited help from the government.

We are starting this fundraising campaign to help our dear friends through this difficult time. Our goal is to raise $60,000 USD or as close to that as we can- to help them replace all the household appliances; the deck that caved in, kitchen cabinets that were submerged; floors where that need replacing; waterlogged walls; furniture that was drenched or swept away. As you can imagine, this is not the type of unexpected expense that can be easily planned for.
