Help Jenn Afford A Home Health Aide for Her Recovery

On Tuesday, May 27th, which is the one year anniversary of her sister's passing, Jenn got a severe concussion that has largely prevented her from working and functioning in day-to-day life. A full recovery is likely going to take several months. In the meantime, the doctors told her that it's too much of a risk to live alone and that her options are residential treatment or moving in with family.

However, treatment centers have been harmful and traumatizing to Jenn in the past, and her family lives too far away for her to keep her current job. If she were to live with family, she would only be able to be compensated for 6 hours a week virtually. This drastic cut in pay would make it very hard for her to afford to keep her apartment or afford the care she needs.

Currently, as an alternative, Jenn is looking for a home health aide so that she can stay in her apartment at least some of the time and have the help she needs while she tries to continue working with accommodations. Due to not currently having insurance, she would be paying at the very least thousands of dollars out of pocket for a home health aide, likely closer to around ten thousand.

As Jenn's friend and coworker, I am making this GoFundMe to give her financial aid that will help her access the care she needs and continue living in her apartment at least some of the time, allowing her to keep her job and continue to afford to pay her bills and pay for medical care. All funds will be used to pay for direct medical care via a home health aide and doctor's appointments.

Jenn is a wonderful person who gives so much to the community. I have never seen someone go so hard for others and show up in the ways that she does. As a team lead, she has selflessly tried to advocate for her team again and again, and I'd love to repay some of that kindness. Even if it's just one dollar, any donation helps get Jenn closer to affording the care she needs while she recovers.
