Help Jeni and Her Children Find Safety and Stability

UPDATE 06/01/2025:
Dear Friends,
I’m so grateful to share a hope-filled update, and today I’m writing with a heart full of gratitude.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, my children and I made it through a season that felt almost impossible. You showed up for us during a true crisis—and your kindness gave us the strength to keep going when everything felt uncertain.
I’m overjoyed to share that we’re now living in a lovely townhome in a safe and supportive community. Stability is returning to our lives.
Even more humbling: I’ve recently stepped into the role of Executive Director of a nonprofit I founded called H.E.R. Wings Unfold (herwingsunfold.org). Our mission is to help women heal from the devastating effects of another’s abuse, addiction, adultery, and/or abandonment. It’s work born from lived experience, which includes your generosity—truly a lemonade-from-lemons story.
I will never forget how you helped us when we needed it most. Your compassion didn’t just lift us—it lit a fire in me to help others the way you helped us.
With so much love and gratitude,
Jeni Brockbank
UPDATE 12/12/2024:
I am BEYOND grateful for the assistance I’ve received. Thanks to your incredible support, my children and I are now living in a lovely, safe community, and I cannot express enough how much this has meant to us during such a challenging time.
Unfortunately, this journey has not been without its setbacks. Right after I posted this GoFundMe, my husband attempted to have the court order me to take it down and return the funds I had received. Thankfully, the court refused his request, allowing me to continue seeking the help we so desperately need.
Adding to the stress, my Facebook account was hacked. On a post I wrote thanking everyone for their help, someone maliciously uploaded an old, outdated photo of me and my estranged husband, making it appear as if we were back together. WE ARE NOT. There is still a protective order in place, and I have no intention of reconciling.
While I am grateful for the progress we’ve made, I still need your help to fully rebuild after this horrendous ordeal. Your continued support would mean the world as I work to create a stable future for my children and hopefully retain a qualified lawyer to navigate this complex legal battle.
Urgent Help Needed: Help Jeni and Her Children Rebuild After Abuse and Legal Battles
Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
I never imagined I would be in this position, but today I am reaching out to ask for your help during what has become the most difficult fight of my life. My name is Jeni Brockbank, and I am currently navigating a painful and exhausting divorce, fighting for both my future and the well-being of my children.
Right now, my four minor children and I are living in a motel, desperately trying to secure safe, permanent housing. The stress of our situation is unimaginable. My husband has manipulated the court to place all of the equity from the sale of our family home (closed on 9/11) in escrow, preventing me from accessing the funds I need to move. My understanding from a text he sent tonight is that he has done this to try to gain custody of our children, despite the severe trauma they have endured from him.
In just the past year, three of our children have been hospitalized for suicidal thoughts and behaviors, all stemming from the abuse and trauma they experienced from their father. I currently have a protective order against him, but tragically, the court removed my children from that protection last October.
To make matters worse, I am representing myself in this legal nightmare. My husband has hired two attorneys, one who is a criminal defense attorney, to fight me, and I am struggling to adequately navigate the legal system. There are 14 police reports involving my husband—every one of them initiated by me.
The weight of this battle is crushing, and I simply cannot continue on my own. I need financial help to:
1. Find Safe Housing and Provide For Needs: My children and I cannot continue living in a motel. I need to move us into a secure, stable home where we can begin to heal while I search for additional employment. (I am employed; however, it's part-time and my ability to find outside employment has been limited due to mentally struggling children who have needed adequate supervision.)
2. Hire a Skilled Attorney: I need a strong legal advocate to fight for my rights and the safety of my children. Representing myself against my husband's legal team is no longer a viable option. I do qualify for a free attorney; however, I am exceedingly concerned about working with an attorney who might not have the experience/expertise necessary.
3. Repair My Car: My car is in need of repair, and as a result I am trying to not drive it very much, further limiting my ability to provide for my family during this already difficult time.
I am asking for your support, no matter how small, to help me protect my children and rebuild our lives. I also greatly appreciate you being willing to share this if possible. Your generosity will go directly towards securing housing, providing for needs, hiring a lawyer who will fight for us, and making sure my children and I can escape the cycle of trauma and start fresh.
I am beyond grateful for any help you can provide, whether it's through a donation or simply sharing my story. You are giving us hope when we need it most.
With deep gratitude for any support,
