Help Jenelle Hear: Facing Severe Hearing Loss
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Kayli I have the great honor of knowing and loving Jenelle. If you know Jenelle then you know that she is a dedicated and compassionate mother, wife, daughter, and friend. Jenelle has faced her share of bumps in the road and remains stedfast in her devotion to her faith. Jenelle is currently experiencing another significant bump in her journey and this time we are reaching out to her village for some support. Here is her story...
"Over spring break I experienced sudden idiopathic hearing loss in my right ear. Leaving me with only 10 to 15% of my hearing in that ear. I have severe nerve damage and the cause is unknown. Although there is that small percentage of hearing, I cannot understand any speech from that ear.
Because my right ear is considered a dead ear, the only type of hearing aids that will work for my condition are called a Cros System. (My good ear would send signals to my bad ear) The other option would be surgical implants but the ENT doctor admitted there are usually complications with those.
Untreated hearing loss can lead to significant long-term complications, including risk of dementia, cognitive decline, social isolation and emotional problems, like depression and anxiety. Although I have one good ear, my quality of life has been weakened by my condition. I am often embarrassed by my inability to hear well."
