In mid-April of this year Jen woke up one morning in excruciating pain, after a quick webMD search it sounded like the culprit might be a small rupture on her spleen; she was having horrible stomach pains and radiating pain up her left shoulder. She called the nurse hotline and was told "straight to the ER". After many hours of waiting and a CT scan the Doctor came in the room and said "well it's not your spleen! Did you know you have a 12" mass in your abdomen?" This was news to Jen but did explain the pain as the mass had grown so large it had displaced her stomach. The ER Doctor thought it was a fibroid mass (so luckily not cancer/tumor) and said a visit to an OBGYN ASAP was a must to discuss surgery. After months of dismissive Doctors, finally an OBGYN that took her seriously and one MRI later it is indeed a very large fibroid mass growing off Jen's uterus. A surgery including a hysterectomy is the answer.
The surgery is scheduled for August 27th 2024 in the early morning. Jen will need 6 weeks to recover if all goes smoothly. The Doctor is going to attempt the procedure robotically but there is a high chance this won't work and Jen will have to undergo a more invasive option (which we won't know until she's on the operating table).
While Jen is doing her best to pay for her medical expenses as they come along, she now needs a little help as the ER bill and other fees start adding up, as well as help paying for the surgery itself and possibly some items to help her recover. Jen has only been at her job for 8 months so she unfortunately doesn't qualify for paid leave to cover the entire 6-8 week recovery time she needs; she only has 2 weeks of sick time/PTO to cash in leaving her a little financially strapped for the remainder.
Please consider helping my sister to keep her stable and her life a little easier, she definitely deserves it!
