I woke up at 1am to my room flooding, water coming in quickly. My roommates and I had to leave everything behind and wait in our outdoor laundry area until we were rescued on surfboards at 7am. In just a few hours, I lost my house, my car, and all of my belongings. I was only able to salvage a few clothes, and everything else was swept away by the floodwaters.

I live in Haleiwa and have been a part of the North Shore community for years. I was a teacher at Sunset Beach Elementary School and now work as a high school counselor in Kahuku. My income isn’t enough to cover the costs of starting over from scratch. The funds raised here will help me find a new place to live, replace the essentials I lost, and get transportation so I can get back on my feet and continue working.
