Help Jen Rebuild After Devastating House Fire

At 2 in the morning on June 6th, I narrowly escaped a fire that destroyed my home of twenty years and all of my belongings.

Since then, I've been overwhelmed by the care and generosity shown to me by my community. I wasn't originally planning to do a GoFundMe, but I feel like this is the best way for my community near and far to help me recover from this catastrophic loss.

I do have renter's insurance, but my adjuster told me that my losses exceed the coverage on my policy, which leaves a long uphill climb back to stability. The value of a rent-controlled apartment, a well-stocked kitchen, and the creature comforts of home cannot be understated. Starting over in a rental market like this one is a costly endeavor. The proceeds from this GoFundMe will help pay for a security deposit, first and last months' rent, new furniture, and replenishing my pantry. My housemate and I hope to stay in the same neighborhood, but for now we are relying gratefully on the generosity of friends and family who have opened their homes to us.

The road ahead is long, but with your support I can begin to rebuild my life.
