Help Jen Publish Her Book

Hi to those I have known, and to those whose connections to those I know have led you here. If you know me, you've been reading my poetry (or scrolling past it!) for years. I started compiling what I had written over the last nine years, since becoming pregnant with my daughter in 2011, giving birth to her in China in 2012, becoming a single mother in 2014, and all the wild in between. A year ago I sent my manuscript to four different self publishing firms, most notably Balboa Press, a division of Hay House Publishing- founded by a woman who lived pieces of her life in the margins, a wife deserted, a woman raped, and found a way to heal her life by healing her inner life first. It is WILD that this is the firm that reached out to me a year later, and that it is happening now. In the past year I have seen more growth and transformation in my life through meditation, making space for myself, offering myself love and empathy and room to process what this life has been, quieting the voice of shame,  than any other time in my life. It's all in the book ;)

Initially I decided to offer to hand paint denim jackets for donations toward what I need to make this happen. Self Publishing comes with a lot of fees- copyrighting, editing, manufacturing, etc. Working with a firm means that what those fees cover stretches so much further, including aggressive marketing as well as Press Releases in Europe, Asia, and America...and OFTEN, HOPEFULLY, PRAYERFULLY, can lead to a book deal once the right eyes get on your work. This is literally the opportunity of a lifetime. The jacket orders I have I'm excited about and will fill, but I realized pretty quickly that what I really need is the freedom to edit and write over the next three to four months. (August is my projected publication month) and doing 
solely jackets will probablyyyy leave me drowning in work. 

All donators large and small will receive a signed copy of my book, "Who Does 

She Think She Is" as well as a print of a painting of your choice once the project is
completed! With my publisher's approval I also plan to have a shout out page for 
the names of the people who helped my BIG FAT DREAM come true.

I also encourage you to read Louise Hay's book, "You Can Heal Your Life" because BABY IT'S TRUE!
