Help Jen Moore Recover and Thrive after Stroke

Donation protected
On New Year's day my sister, Jen Moore, suffered a stroke. She was alone in her house in Warrenton, VA for hours until she was discovered by my father and partner the following morning. They called 911 and Jen was rushed to the ICU at Fauquier Hospital.

Nothing can prepare you for the news that your vibrant, beautiful and brilliant 48 year-old sister has had a stroke. Outside the hospital my father, mother, partner, and I sat in the car together as Jen underwent a battery of tests to ascertain what, exactly, had happened to her. Due to COVID restrictions no one was allowed inside to see her and we had no way to communicate with her. We waited for a few hours until it became clear that all we could do was pray for her and wait at home until the results of her tests came back.

Jen was diagnosed with an ischemic stroke in her left basal ganglia and frontal lobe. She spent several days in the ICU during which time we received phone updates from her doctors and nurses at the hospital. We were told that she did not have any motion in her right arm, that she could only move her right leg a little, and that her speech was slurred. By the end of the week Jen was moved out of the ICU and, eventually, we were able to talk with her.

On January 7th Jen was transported to a rehabilitation center in Loudoun county where she received occupational, physical, and speech therapy for about three weeks. By the end of January she had improved enough to be able to go home with Mom and Dad.

Jen is currently living with Mom and Dad, both of whom are now her primary caregivers. For the past several weeks she has received frequent therapy sessions with at-home occupational and physical therapists and we are hoping that her speech therapy will continue soon.

Jen's mobility and speech has improved significantly: she can now move her right arm out and back and her right leg is showing signs of improvement as well.

I have started this GoFundMe page with the hope that everyone who knows, loves, and cares about my sister will rush to her aid and help her now. Though Jen has had health insurance it will soon expire as she cannot work. There are still deductibles and medication co-pays to be taken care of as well as future medical expenses and the challenge of a complete loss of income. Indeed, it is totally uncertain when Jen will be able to begin work again. Any funds we can raise will go toward her medical expenses and living expenses such as food, Jen's mortgage  payment, and her student loan payments.

Over the next many months Jen will need every ounce of her mental and physical energy to recover from this horrific injury.

Please help her focus on her recovery and not on her unpaid expenses.

Please help my sister recover and thrive after stroke. Thank-you!!!
